Some pertinent information was provided to Bourbon Town Council members when department heads delivered their reports during this month’s meeting.
Wastewater Superintendent Steve Stacy informed the council that hydrant flushing will be done this week – starting on Monday, July 24th and running through Friday, July 27th. Hydrant flushing is a procedure that is conducted to help clear the town’s water distribution system of rust.
Additionally, council members received a brief update about a matter that was initially considered during a previous meeting. As reported in the past, there are currently no handicap parking spaces in the 100 block of Main Street.
Back in May, a business owner submitted a request to the council asking them to consider adding a handicap space in front of 107 S Main Street. In his request, the owner stated that the curb in front of his business is very high and said he feels like a handicap space would be beneficial to elderly patrons.
Street Superintendent Roger Terry told members that he continues to review handicap parking situation downtown. No official actions were taken during the July meeting but the matter will likely be readdressed in the future.
