Bourbon Building and Zoning Commissioner Discusses Demolition with Town Council

Bourbon Building and Zoning Commissioner Bill Keyser discussed a few problematic properties with Town Council members when they met earlier this month.

Keyser addressed the Phillips property in the 800 block of N Main Street. According to draft minutes provided from the July meeting, he recommended that Town Attorney Tony Wagner proceed with filing a complaint on the property.

Keyser also asked the council members to consider either repairing or replacing the shed at the Little League baseball diamond. Councilman Larry Wattenbarger said that he didn’t see a point in repairing the structure so he made a motion to replace the shed. That motion was passed unanimously by the members in attendance.

Additionally, Keyser discussed the status of the former Byfield property in the 200 block of West Park Avenue. He asked the council members if they wanted the demolition work to be completed by a private contractor or town employees. After some discussion, members took a vote permitting town employees to tear down the structure.
