Classes are taking place as usual at Plymouth High School, after what school officials are calling an unsubstantiated weapon threat.
Plymouth Community School Corporation Marketing Director Judi Lykowski says the school heard from an unidentified source that a student had access to a weapon at school. But she says the student described doesn’t actually exist at Plymouth High School.
Police and school officials now believe that information was meant for another Plymouth High School in a different state, according to Lykowski. She adds that school has been notified, and no student has been found to have a weapon there, either.
In her original press release Monday morning, Lykowski said the Plymouth High School here in Marshall County was not on lockdown and school was going on as usual. She added that parents who decide to keep their children home or ask for them to be released are being asked to follow the normal protocol for reporting students’ absences.
Lykowski stresses that the Plymouth Community School Corporation is committed to the safety and security of students and staff and thanked everyone for their patience and cooperation.
