Bremen Band Director Matthew Sutton was appointed as the teacher representative for the MASE Insurance Trust at this week’s Bremen School Board meeting.
Treasurer Stephanie Pittman explained that Bremen Public School Corporation is a part of the Midwest Area School Employee Insurance Trust which is comprised of approximately 22 different schools that pool together to purchase medical insurance.
Pittman said that the bylaws of the organization require that the school corporation must have a representative and the teacher’s association is permitted to appoint someone as well.
Superintendent Dr. Jim White serves as the corporation’s representative and on Monday night, school board members approved Director Sutton as the teacher association’s appointment.
Pittman mentioned that every school corporation that is involved with the MASE Insurance Trust is represented by two individuals who are granted voting rights in the trust.
