Bourbon Town Council Discusses Police Department Vehicles

Bourbon Town Council members received an update on the Police Department’s new vehicle and held a discussion over what to do with an old one when members met for their May meeting.

Police Chief Bill Martin informed members that the new police cruiser should be ready by the middle of June, according to draft minutes provided by Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger. The chief also asked council members what they thought should be done with the existing Charger.

Initially, Councilman Larry Wattenbarger recommended selling the vehicle. However, Councilman P.J. Hanley brought up that it could be advantageous to keep the Charger on the fleet for Reserve officers to utilize. After some discussion, members took a vote and unanimously agreed to keep the vehicle.

In addition to providing a vehicle update, Chief Martin also reminded the members that the police department will be holding a Nelson’s Chicken fundraiser for their reserve program on Saturday, May 26th in Plymouth.

If you have any questions about the reserve program or the fundraiser, you can contact the Bourbon Police Department at 574-342-3105.
