Time is Running Out to Register to Vote in the Primary Election

Those hoping to have a say in the May primary election must register by Monday, April 9th!

The Indiana Secretary of State’s Office issued a reminder stating that in order to be eligible to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States who is at least 18-years-old on the day of the next general, municipal or special election.

Voters must also live in their precinct for at least 30 days before the next general, municipal or special election, with the exception of certain military voters.

Another stipulation states that to be eligible, individuals cannot currently be imprisoned after being convicted of a crime.

There are a few different options available when it comes to registering. To register to vote in-person, visit your local county clerk’s office or any Bureau of Motor Vehicles license branch.

Citizens can also register to vote online by visiting IndianaVoters.com, texting the word ‘Indiana’ to the number 2Vote (28683) or by using the Indiana Voters app.

The app is a valuable resource as it also allows Hoosiers to confirm their voter registration, look up polling places, get directions to the polling location, find out who is on the ballot, track an absentee ballot application and contact local election officials.

The primary election will be held on May 8th. If you have any questions, contact the Hoosier Voter Hotline at 866-IN-1-VOTE.
