MCEDC Manufacturing Center Discussed at Argos Town Council Meeting

A Marshall County Economic Development Corporation official presented an update about the Argos Manufacturing Center project when Town Council members met on Wednesday.

According to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney, MCEDC Board representative Mark Umbaugh told members that the deed for the building was in the process of being recorded. He added that as soon as that is officially submitted then the two plots that were not used for development will be returned to the town.

As reported in the past, the Town Council initially conveyed about 33 acres of land to the MCEDC for the Manufacturing Center. They only ended up needing 17.82 acres for development so the remaining acreage will return to the town.

Members voted in a March meeting to accept those plots back from the MCEDC but as Umbaugh stated, they will not be officially returned until the deed is recorded.

Clerk-Treasurer Mullaney stated that for now, there are no concrete plans about what the rest of the land will be used for but she said the intention is to have more development in the future.

Mullaney said, “All of that land, all of the 75 acres that we originally bought and made shovel ready is for an Industrial Park.”

Town Council members will continue discussing the Argos Industrial Park in future meetings.
