Marshall County’s unemployment rate is moving lower. According to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Marshall County’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.1 percent in March.
That’s half a percent lower than the month before and a tenth of a percentage point lower than the same period last year. However, there were about 600 fewer Marshall County residents employed in March of 2018 than in March of 2017.
Of Marshall County’s neighbors, Elkhart County had the lowest unemployment rate last month at 2.2 percent. Starke County’s was 4.7 percent. Marshall County’s unemployment rate was lower than those of Indiana and the U.S. as a whole.
