The local law enforcement officers who assisted Triton School officials with an emergency situation a few weeks ago were recognized for their outstanding work during Monday night’s Triton School Board Meeting.
As previously reported, on Wednesday, February 28th, officials at the Triton School Corporation were alerted of a threat made through social media that was reportedly targeted toward Triton and the Bourbon community. Superintendent Riffle reported that incident was handled swiftly, as the suspect responsible for making the threat was in custody less than 12 hours after the incident was reported.
Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said that he appreciated that the Bourbon Police officers took time out of their busy schedules to come to the meeting so he could extend his gratitude on behalf of the students and faculty at Triton Community Schools.
“Our Chief Police Officer Bill Martin, Officer (Carl) Amsden and Reserve Officer Travis Bays showed up and they were actually three of the gentleman that helped us when we had the threat. I just felt like publically recognizing them for their efforts in keeping our kids safe was important.”
In addition to providing verbal thanks to the officers, Superintendent Riffle also presented them with a certificate of excellence for keeping Triton students and members of the community safe.
