Plymouth City Council members held a public hearing Monday night over resolutions that would allow additional appropriations to be made.
Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver explained that there were three different resolutions up for consideration.
The first resolution had to do with funds spent by the Plymouth Police Department. Xaver informed the council members and hearing attendees that due to a typo on the legal ad, she was unable to appropriate the entire cash balance for the Crime Prevention Fund. She said she advertised for $361 so that’s all that can be appropriated at this point. According to Xaver, nothing was spent from that fund last year but she did say if it is determined that more money is needed, then additional appropriations can be requested in the future.
The second resolution pertained to an appropriation for the unsafe building fund. Xaver explained that it was for the same amount that was appropriated last year.
She said although the city hasn’t needed to take any action against any buildings for several years, the appropriation will be in place just in case they have to address any unsafe structures. She added that the remainder of the funds addressed in the second resolution are lease rental bonds or grant funds.
The last resolution was related to the cumulative capital development fund for the airport layout project through the aviation fund.
She specified that the project is a part of a reimbursement grant with the Federal Aviation Administration and INDOT. Xaver said the FAA has indicated they will reimburse 90 percent of project cost while the state intends to return an additional 5 percent.
The third resolution also included money from the common sense fund for lighting projects proposed by the Street Department and Park Department.
No public input was provided and board members also refrained from submitting any additional comments or questions during the public hearing.
Once the hearing was adjourned the meeting carried on and all three resolutions were unanimously approved during the regular session.
