Officials at Bremen Public Schools will be collaborating with the local Boys and Girls Club to provide more summer school services after the school was recently awarded a grant through the Indiana Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers program.
According to school board president Brian Teall, the school was awarded $120,000 for the next four years, meaning that they’ll receive a total of $480,000.
Bremen Schools will have a contract with the Boys and Girls Club in order to expand the summer school program to give students an opportunity to get caught up before the start of the school year. He said this year’s program will be geared specifically toward students in kindergarten through third grade.
Teall added that the school board members are very grateful to the staff that worked hard on the extensive process to apply for this grant. He said the school already has a great partnership with the Boys and Girls club and officials are eager to work with them to provide more services for students.
