Repair work is underway at Triton Junior/Senior High School to fix the gymnasium floor that sustained major water damage due to flooding in January.
When Triton School Board members met on Monday, they approved a quote of $181,240.80 from the Michigan-based company Cedar Creek for the floor replacement work.
Triton Superintendent Jeremy Riffle explained that work to the gym began last week and the company is approximately three-quarters of the way done. He said they should be finishing up removal today.
Next, they will be repairing concrete and on Monday, they’re scheduled to begin laying down plywood that will eventually be covered with some maple floorboards.
The superintendent said there isn’t a specific date set for when the work will be done, but the company said it could take about 6 weeks total. Riffle said at that rate, they could very well see the project completed by spring break.
