Three Indianapolis men were arrested on drug and gun charges after Indiana State Police troopers initiated a traffic stop in Marshall County Tuesday morning.

Police say a moving violation prompted the traffic stop in the southbound lane on U.S. 31 near 13th Road in Marshall County. When Trooper John Hart spoke with the driver, 26-year-old Deonta Larkins, he could allegedly smell the odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered 35 individual plastic containers of suspected marijuana with a total weight of 122 grams. Troopers also located a loaded handgun and over $1,900 in cash inside the vehicle, according to the report.

Larkins faces preliminary felony charges of dealing marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of a handgun without a permit and driving while suspended-prior.

Passengers 21-year-old Donnell Hughley, Jr. and 26-year-old Dillon Lyons face preliminary felony charges of dealing marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of a handgun without a permit.

The trio was booked in the Marshall County Jail. Larkins has since posted bond.
