The Plymouth School Board approved the 2018-2019 school calendar when it met Tuesday. Superintendent Andy Hartley said the biggest change is that the school year will start a little later. Students’ first day of class will be August 8, while the last day will be May 31, 2019. Christmas break and spring break will each be two weeks long, while fall break will last one week.
Hartley explained each year’s calendar is based on a template from the vocational cooperative. The school corporation then makes adjustments, after getting recommendations from teachers and administrators.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the Plymouth School Board adopted next school year’s transfer student deadline, as required by state statute. Transfer students will be accepted until the last day of school, unless a particular grade level reaches capacity. School officials set a capacity of 325 students per grade for kindergarten through eighth grade. There’s no limit on students in grades nine through 12.
