Marshall County EMA Director Provides Update, Including Recent Road Closure Statuses

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery issued an update regarding current conditions within the county. He said a “Watch” level travel advisory remains in place for the entire county and the City of Plymouth has also implemented a watch travel advisory.

When he issued the update around 4 p.m. ET, the Yellow River was at 17.61 ft. He said the river is expected to crest near 17.7 ft. around 7 p.m. tonight and fall below flood stage around 9 p.m. on Monday, February 26.

He added that the Tippecanoe River was at 15.45 ft. around the same time and said it is still expected to rise to 15.7 ft. around 1 a.m. Monday, February 26 and will then begin falling.

Avery commented that there are additional chances of rainfall tonight through Friday (.15) and again Friday night through Saturday (.58).

Additionally, as individuals start to move from response to recovery, Marshall County Building Inspector Chuck Dewitt and Plymouth Building Inspector Keith Hammonds have agreed to assist with conducting damage assessment. Meanwhile, Christine Stinson and Theresa Budd from the Marshall County Health Department will be looking at addressing health related issued due to the flooding

EMA Director Avery said EMA officials are in the process of trying to implement a Disaster Declaration for the county and added that this is not related to travel restrictions such as the “warning” level travel advisory.
