Those thinking about becoming a teacher are now getting some extra encouragement from the Indiana Department of Education. This week, the department announced the launch of a teacher recruitment and retention campaign. At the heart of that are two new websites designed “to promote positive educational resources and interactions,” according to department officials.
The first is EducateIN.org. It gives high school and college students, as well as others thinking about becoming a teacher, the chance to learn more about the profession, the benefits that come with it, and what qualifications are needed.
The other is Indiana.Teachers-Teachers.com. Its focus is to help schools with teacher recruitment. School officials can post job openings, while job seekers can create an online profile and apply for multiple positions.
In a press release, Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Jennifer McCormick said her department is committed to attracting and retaining excellent teachers, and she believes these resources will advance that initiative.
