Driver Injured After Reportedly Ramping Car Off Wrecker Truck on U.S. 31

A Kingsbury man was injured, when he reportedly ramped his car off the back of a wrecker truck on U.S. 31 near Plymouth. Marshall County Police say it happened around 8:00 Friday morning, just south of 9A Road.

Police say the wrecker was parked in the median and southbound passing lane with its flat bed in the down position, to try to wrench a vehicle out of the median. That’s when a Chevy Malibu driven by Conway Elder reportedly drove onto the bed and ramped off the wrecker. Officers say the car rolled over in midair, landed on its top, and slid into a ditch.

Elder reportedly had to be extricated from the car by the Plymouth Fire Department. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to police. Elder was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with a complaint of head pain.
