Culver Emergency Services Working to Fill Open Positions

The Culver EMS, Fire Department and Police Departments are still looking to fill positions.

Culver Police Chief Wayne Bean told the Culver Town Council last week that he received five applications for an open officer position. He will be reviewing those with a recommendation soon.

Culver EMS Director Kathy Hart said she’s received two applications for paramedics. She’s been having trouble finding paramedics to fill shifts. The town council approved an ordinance amendment in October 2017 that increases the hourly wage for a new advanced paramedic to a range from $10.00 to $15.50 an hour to help attract paramedics to work for the Town of Culver.

Fire Chief Terry Wakefield has been looking for applications for over a year to help boost the number of eligible firefighters in the town of Culver and Union Township. He told the town council last week that one firefighter recently passed several initial hurdles and now has a radio and gear. He needs to complete training that will begin in March.
