The Bremen School Board held a special session on Monday to approve their master teacher contract prior the November 15th deadline set by the Indiana Education Employment Relation Board.
Superintendent Dr. Jim White stated that the salary of a beginning teacher with no prior experience is set at $34,000 and an experienced teacher can make up to $70,000 depending on certain factors.
“We look at the number of years they’ve taught and we also look at their education level.” Superintendent White said, “we also look at if they have teacher experience, what was their last evaluation and factor those in to craft a starting salary but it’s always going to be higher than a starting teacher salary.”
Dr. White added that some additional changes to the contract included five extra sick days and that unused personal days can carry over into the next year.
