Marshall County’s unemployment rate continues to drop. The county posted a rate of three percent for the month of September, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s down from 3.6 percent in August and 3.3 percent in September of 2016.
However, the number of people in Marshall County’s labor force has dropped slightly, and fewer people were actually working in September of 2017 than the same period the year before.
Elkhart County had the state’s lowest September unemployment rate at 2.5 percent, while Starke and LaPorte counties had the highest unemployment in the local area at 4.3 percent. Indiana as a whole saw an unemployment rate of 3.6 percent last month.
