Marshall County Council Approves Highway, Sheriff Appropriation Requests

The Marshall County Council fielded several requests for additional appropriations during their regular meeting on Monday.

The highway department submitted a request for $300,000 for bituminous for the continuation of paving operations through the rest of the year. The highway department also asked for $112,000 for vehicle maintenance. That money is to re-appropriate the fuel charges from departments and outside entities coming back into the county.

Sheriff Matt Hassel requested $13,861.71 for overtime wages. As explained by Council President Judy Stone, the additional appropriation will refund funds with monies received from the Operation Pullover DUI Task Force and JAG Interdiction grants. A transfer of $12,000 was also requested.

The council also discussed an EMA Performance Grant in the amount of $16,656.06 which is a reimbursable grant. It is for the creation of the hazardous mitigation plan. The county’s match is $5,552.02.

All requests were approved unanimously by the seven-member council.
