A Carmel man was arrested Thursday, after he allegedly led police on a chase through three counties on U.S. 30. Police say it began around 1:45 p.m. in Marshall County, when a patrolman tried to pull over a car near Tulip Road.
Marshall County Police say the driver failed to stop, and he continued westbound through Starke County and into LaPorte County. Officers say they were finally able to force the car to stop near LaPorte County Road 100 West.
The driver, Rahul Kumar Palta, 35, then allegedly resisted the officers trying to take him into custody. He was taken to the Marshall County Jail. He faces numerous charges, including a Level 6 Felony charge of Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, as well as misdemeanor charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Refusal to Identify.
