Unemployment Rates Up from Previous Month, Down from Last Year

Marshall County’s unemployment rate rose to 2.9 percent last month, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s three-tenths of a percent higher than the June figure, but lower than last July’s rate of 3.7 percent. The July employment report also shows that Marshall County’s labor force shrunk slightly.

Marshall County continues to see lower unemployment than the state as a whole. Indiana’s July unemployment rate was 3.4 percent. The national rate was 4.6 percent.
