South Bend Man Arrested after Foot Pursuit

A South Bend man is in custody in his alleged involvement in numerous theft incidents in Marshall County. Joseph Cromey, 46, also reportedly ran from police.

On Sunday morning, a Marshall County patrolman was searching for a vehicle driven by a suspect in numerous theft cases. The officer found the vehicle at a home near King Road and U.S. 6. The officer recognized Cromey who led the officer on a high speed pursuit north on King Road before crashing at Tyler Road, according to a press release.  Cromey reportedly led police on a foot pursuit. The officer was able to apprehend Cromey by using a taser.

Police say numerous stolen items were recovered, including the motorcycle on which Cromey eluded police. According to the report, the recovered items were reported stolen from Marshall County while the motorcycle was reported stolen in St. Joseph County. Cromey also had warrant out for his arrest out of St. Joseph County.

Cromey faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, three counts of felony theft and various driving offenses. He remains in the Marshall County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.
