Argos Woman Arrested on Burglary, Theft of Firearms Charges

An Argos woman was arrested Friday, July 28 on a warrant that includes several theft and firearms charges.

Police say Jamie Kay Beam, 28, was with an accomplice and pried a garage door open at a residence on N. Maple Street in Argos on Jan. 17, 2017. The owner reported two flat screen televisions stolen as well as nine firearms and a home entertainment subwoofer, according to court documents.

Beam and another individual allegedly sold four of the firearms to an undercover officer on Jan. 23 and Jan. 24. Police say the firearms were found to have altered serial numbers, but were identified as the ones reported stolen. A few days later, a resident told police that he bought two guns from Beam and believed they were stolen, according to court documents. Those firearms were recovered and found to belong to the victim. Another firearm was allegedly sold by the other suspect in this case to another resident. Police say that firearm was also found to belong to the victim.

An order finding probable cause was issued in July and Beam was arrested on Friday. She is being held in the Marshall County Jail on felony charges of burglary, theft of a firearm, possession of an altered handgun, carrying a handgun without a license, as well as a misdemeanor charge of theft. Bail is set at $50,000 cash.
