A branch in the roadway reportedly led to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 6 Monday morning. According to the Marshall County Police Department, Melinda R. Dodson of Walkerton was driving eastbound in a Ford Focus. She had just passed Tamarack Road, when she reportedly swerved into the westbound lane to avoid hitting the branch. Police say she struck a westbound Toyota Rav4 in the process, sending both vehicles off the roadway and into a ditch.
Both Dodson and the driver of the Toyota, Carissa A. Marshall of South Bend, were transported from the scene by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Officers say both vehicles sustained significant damage.
