Marshall County under Watch Level Travel Advisory

Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery has placed the county under a “watch” level travel advisory. He urges essential travel only.

The rain received on Friday swelled low-lying areas with water causing travel difficulties throughout the county. Crews were clearing several fallen trees in the northern part of the county where strong storms surged through the area.

Avery urges residents to take caution in flood-prone areas. “We want people to be mindful that if they live in areas that are prone to flooding that they keep an eye on that and seek shelter at a higher ground level if they see flooding occurring,” commented Avery. “Also, we’re concerned about ponding of water on roadways, especially while driving. It can be dangerous at night when it’s harder to see that water.”

He also encourages residents to be weather aware and keep informed about potential weather changes.
