Federal Trade Commission to Send Refunds to Victims of Work-At-Home Scheme

Victims of a work-at-home opportunity scheme may soon be getting some money.

The Federal Trade Commission says it’s mailing refunds to people who paid American Business Builders and related groups to take part in a home-based business opportunity. The groups reportedly told people they could make a lot of money by offering payment processing services, credit card terminals, and cash advances to small businesses.

The FTC says it’s sending over 2,700 checks to victims. The average refund is just over $137. The FTC recommends that recipients cash or deposit their checks within 60 days.
