Public Hearing Set for Reestablishment of Cumulative Capital Development Fund Rate

The Department of Local Government Finance has scheduled a public hearing to gather written and verbal testimony from Marshall County residents who signed a petition opposing the proposed reestablishment of the Cumulative Capital Development fund at its maximum rate of $.0333 per $100 of assessed valuation.

Following the hearing, the DLGF will certify approval, disapproval, or modifications of the county’s proposal and submit that to the county.

The Marshall County Commissioners approved the rate by ordinance during a public meeting in April. The notice was published which gave residents 30 days to file an appeal. Auditor Julie Fox said 83 verified signatures were on the petition filed in her office. She then sent that paperwork to the DLGF.

The fund was reestablished at its maximum rate to assist the highway department with funding and to assist the county with other monetary needs. The increase was expected to help gather $412,000.

The public hearing is set for Thursday, June 22 at 10 a.m. in the second floor commissioner’s meeting room in the Marshall County Building in Plymouth.
