A multiple-vehicle accident on U.S. 30 in Kosciusko County has claimed the lives of two local teenage girls. It happened yesterday on U.S. 30 Eastbound, according to the website InkFreeNews.com. Investigators say a 2004 Mitsubishi driven by 17-year-old Kirsten Ganshorn of Walkerton was passing a 2011 Ford F150 and clipped it. The impact sent both vehicles into the median. The pickup truck driver steered back onto the roadway, but Ganshorn’s car spun out, crossed the median backwards and hit the front of a 2007 Chevrolet flatbed truck.
Ganshorn was thrown from the car on impact and was pronounced dead at the crash site from multiple blunt-force trauma injuries.
Her front seat passenger, 17-year-old Ashley Demont of Argos, was airlifted to a Fort Wayne Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the flatbed truck was also airlifted to Fort Wayne with multiple injuries, and two other motorists involved in the chain-reaction crash were treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw.
