GIS Data Share Agreement Contract Presented to Commissioners

An agreement with Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) was presented to the Marshall County Commissioners last week to perform the final pictometry flight in a six-year process.

Assessor Debbie Dunning explained to the commissioners that they signed a contract with MACOG in 2013 and 2015 so they could gather aerial pictures of the roads. This is part of the GIS data share agreement. This will be the final flight of the six year pictometry contract with MACOG. They will pay the county $12,000 which will go into the reassessment fund to pay for the flights.

Dunning is concerned about tree cover and the ability to see the roads. Six townships have heavy tree cover so the flight may occur early next spring to avoid budding leaves so clear pictures can be recorded. The west and southern part of the county have the heaviest tree cover.

The commissioners approved the contract.
