If you’ve never been camping, this weekend will be a good time to give it a try, according to officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Indiana State Parks are taking part in the nationwide Let’s Camp America! Weekend this Friday through Sunday.
Each of Indiana’s 32 state park properties will hold special camping skills programs, as well as their usual educational activities. On top of that, park admission will be free on Sunday, May 7, in honor of Visit Indiana Week.
The DNR is also choosing 12 Hoosier families who’ve never camped at a state park before to do so for free, with the DNR providing some equipment and guidance. There will also be contests taking place on the Indiana State Parks Facebook page, with the chance to win a 2017 annual pass or a camping gift card.
