Culver’s music and literary connections will be featured during this summer’s history cruises. Local historian Jeff Kenney will once again lead a series of 90-minute boat tours, highlighting areas of architectural and historical interest on Lake Maxinkuckee.
The first tour of the season will examine jazz composer Cole Porter’s time in the Culver area. The cruise will set sail from Culver Marina Wednesday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. It will make a stop at the cottage where Porter spent many of his summers, and passengers will have a chance to tour the property.
Cole Porter is one of several historical figures with Culver connections to be featured this summer. A cruise focusing on novelist Kurt Vonnegut Jr. will take place Wednesday, August 9 at 6:30 p.m. Other history cruises are scheduled for Saturday, June 18; Sunday, July 2; Sunday, July 9; and Saturday, August 12, all at 7:00 p.m.
