Indiana Sen. Joe Donnelly is pleased with the Justice Department’s appointment of a special counsel to investigate alleged ties between President Trump’s campaign and the Russians. During an interview on WKVI’s “Grossman in the Morning” Thursday, Donnelly said it’s important to find out what the facts are. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller will attempt to do just that. Donnelly says he’s an “extraordinary individual” and says he has great confidence in his ability to “just follow the evidence.”
He adds the Russia matter needs to be resolved one way or another in the wake of President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey and ensuing allegations he tried to quash the investigation.
” If there’s improper actions there we need to find them out and we need to deal with them. If there’s not we need to make sure there’s a clean bill of health,” Donnelly said.
He’s also confident Mueller will conduct a thorough investigation and says there’s no set time frame for its completion
Donnelly adds Hoosiers deserve answers, and he’s confident Mueller will follow the facts wherever they lead.
