Marshall County’s April unemployment rate of 2.3 percent is well below the state’s figure for the same time period, according to data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That represents a full percentage drop from March of 2017.
Regionally Elkhart County has the lowest unemployment rate for April of 2017 at 1.9 percent, followed by Koscuisko County at 2 percent. St. Joseph County posted a 2.7 percent unemployment rate for April, and Starke County is at 3.3 percent. Fulton County hit 3.1.
Statewide the jobless rate is 3.6 percent. That’s still well below the national rate of 4.4, which is down slightly from March.
