The Plymouth Community School Corporation is looking for a corporate partner to help pay for additional updates to the recently renovated Rockpile athletic complex.
Specifically they’re hoping to replace the grass football field with synthetic turf next summer, but doing so carries a $1.6 million price tag. School officials say turf requires less maintenance than grass and can be playable 24 hours a day with no repairs. Superintendent Dan Tyree says that means the facility can be rented without worrying about overuse.
Athletic Director Roy Benge says adding turf will save the corporation money over the life of the playing surface.
The Plymouth Community School Corporation is looking to form partnerships with local businesses in exchange for naming rights at the stadium. School officials say such arrangements are becoming more popular due to tight school budgets.
In addition to the football stadium, Tyree said the corporation has naming rights open for the new storage building, and the convenience building at the athletic complex, which includes restrooms. Tom Wiers, president of Wiers Fleet Partners, has secured the $12,000 naming rights for the concession building, and Dr. Tod A. Stillson and his family are proud sponsors of the outdoor patio picnic area.
Sponsorship-naming rights opportunities range from individual paver bricks, various building naming rights, to business logo advertising opportunities in two large areas that are more than 100-feet into the air on our bleacher wrap that can be seen for nearly a mile away.
In addition to high school football, the junior high squad and high school track team also compete at the Rockpile. Band competitions take place there as well.
