Plymouth has made the list of Indiana’s safest cities. The city came in at number 19 on the National Council for Home Safety and Security’s 2017 list for cities and towns with at least 5,000 residents.
It’s based on the most recent FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics, along with independent research and population data. Violent crimes – like murder, rape, and robbery – counted for 70 percent of each community’s score. Property crimes – like burglary, arson, and theft – made up the remaining 30 percent.
In a press release, Plymouth officials say the “designation shows that Plymouth is Positively Plymouth!” Indiana’s safest city, according to the list, is St. John in Lake County.
