Marshall County continues to fare well in the County Health Rankings. The annual report issued by the by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute places Marshall County 16th among Indiana’s 92 counties for health outcomes. That’s seven places ahead of last year’s rankings. Marshall County saw particular success with length of life, coming in at number 11 in the state.
When it comes to health factors, which include health behaviors, education levels, and social and economic factors, Marshall County moved ahead to 21st place. While the number of adults who smoke dropped by four percent from last year’s report, the adult obesity rate increased by two percent.
However, Marshall County lost ground to other counties when it came to its physical environment and access to clinical care, dropping 30 and 16 places respectively.
