Four people were taken to the Marshall County Jail over the weekend for allegedly driving while intoxicated.
The first incident happened Friday night around 8:00 p.m. on U.S. 31 just south of State Road 10. Marshall County Police say Makenna Elisabeth Hefner, 18, of Michigan City was pulled over for speeding, when the officer says he noticed “an overwhelming odor of burnt marijuana.” Following a chemical test, Hefner was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, controlled substance.
Later that night, an officer stopped a vehicle driven by Jason Brock Knepper, 19, of Plymouth on King Road near 9A Road. Police say he was impaired and in possession of marijuana. Knepper was taken for a certified chemical test and then lodged in the Marshal County Jail for OWI Endangering a Person, OWI Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
Jeffrey Stills, 27, of Tippecanoe was taken to jail on those same charges, following a traffic stop around 3:00 Saturday morning on Lincoln Highway near King Road, according to Marshall County Police.
Then around 8:45 Saturday night, police pulled over a vehicle driven by Shalonda Latrice Fontenette, 28, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The officer determined that she was under the influence of alcohol, according to the incident report. Fontenette then allegedly tried to get back in the vehicle and drive away, but officers removed her and took her into custody. A certified test showed that she was intoxicated more than three times the legal limit, according to Marshall County Police.
