Time is running out for prospective college students to fill out their financial aid forms if they hope to qualify for aid from the state. Ancilla College Vice President for Admissions Eric Wignall says 2015 family income tax information is used to complete the FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid. He stresses families should never pay to complete the form.
If there are significant changes to the family’s income, May 15th is the deadline to correct the form. Wignall says it needs to be finished by March 10th in order to qualify for Indiana state aid. Completing the FAFSA also qualifies students for federal aid.
Wignall says colleges and universities indicated on the form get a copy of the FAFSA, which they use to build a financial aid package for the student.
