The Town of Culver’s partnership with Marshall County for building and planning services officially takes effect today. County Building Commissioner Chuck DeWitt will oversee services for the town as well under an intergovernmental agreement approved last month by the county commissioners.
The Town of Culver will pay the county $2,000 per DeWitt’s services under the one-year contract. He replaces Russ Mason, who resigned as the Culver Building Commissioner last October.
The county’s online building permit application system will allow DeWitt to work from Plymouth rather than maintain office hours in Culver. He will do setback inspections and check for erosion control when he does footer inspections as required by the county. DeWitt will also attend Culver plan commission and BZA meetings.
