A local pageant winner is competing in a statewide contest today in Indianapolis. Miss Yellowstone Trail 2016 Cassi Quissel will be among the young ladies vying for $3,000 in scholarships in the Indiana State Festival Association Pageant.
The annual Yellowstone Trail Festival takes place each August in Hamlet at the Starke County Fairgrounds. It celebrates the nation’s first transcontinental automobile highway. It ran from Washington through Massachusetts and passed through Starke and Marshall Counties.
