Deputies with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a multi-jurisdictional theft investigation that led to four arrests.
Investigators believe the suspects are part of a large-scale theft ring that’s responsible for crimes in Starke, Pulaski, Noble and Steuben Counties, as well as two counties in Michigan. They recently recovered two side-by-side UTV’s, eight ATV’s, six trailers, snowmobiles, go-carts, golf carts, motor-cross motorcycles and mini-bikes from a residence in Starke County.
On Jan. 3, 27-year-old Michael Nicholas Watson of Leesburg was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of stolen property. He also faces charges of theft, burglary and auto theft in Kosciusko County in connection with a sheriff’s department investigation there.
Officers also arrested 24-year-old Katie Matthews of Medaryville for possession of stolen property; 27-year-old Tyson Matthews of Winamac for theft and forgery; and 46-year-old James Matthews of Medaryville on a Kosciusko County theft warrant.
Investigators believe additional arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
