U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly has requested a meeting with President Trump to discuss the outsourcing of American jobs.
In a letter to the new president, Donnelly says, “For years, I have sought to align our policies with the interests of American workers, and I appreciate the renewed attention you have brought to the challenges facing many working families in my state. I believe that federal tax breaks and contracts should go to companies that invest here in the United States and those companies that outsource jobs should be penalized. That is why I recently introduced legislation intended to achieve that goal.”
Donnelly adds “meaningful action” to address the flow of American jobs to countries like Mexico and China will require Congress to act. He wants to meet with Mr. Trump to discuss his legislative proposals, policy ideas and ways they can work together to protect jobs and strengthen the national economy.
