Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Promotes Nixle Alerts

Sheriff-stARThe Marshall County Sheriff’s Department urges residents to sign up for a free alert service to receive potentially life-saving information.

Nixle.com is a free, secured website used by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and other similar agencies and is used by authorized personnel to convey authorized messages in one of three categories.

Alerts require immediate public action, such as evacuations, missing persons, hazardous conditions or situations like tornado or thunderstorm warnings.

Advisories are any situation where public awareness would promote safety or assist the public. Examples include winter weather warnings, tornado and thunderstorm watches, fog, snow-covered or slippery roads and criminal investigations.

Community is any event or announcement that is sponsored or released by the Marshall County Government.

In order to get messages, subscribers must go to www.Nixle.com to sign up. Subscribers are responsible for the cost of any text messages they receive.
