Vice President-elect Gov. Mike Pence is directing flags at all state facilities to be lowered to half-staff at sunrise today to mark a somber anniversary. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day memorializes the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack on the American Naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The surprise attack prompted the United States’ involvement in World War II with a declaration of war on Japan.
Businesses and residences are also asked to lower their flags to half-staff until sunset in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
