The Plymouth School Board installed a new member of the school board on Tuesday night.
Jennifer Sickmiller previously represented the City of Plymouth on the school board. Her resignation became effective October 5th of this year with a replacement mandated to be found within 30 days from her departure.
The Plymouth School Board on Tuesday selected Robin Cupka – a Plymouth native whose children were educated in the school corporation.
“I just feel very fortunate to have participated in this school system that has brought us so far,” says Cupka.
Six applications were submitted for the slot. Eventually, three names withdrew from consideration.
Applicants were expected to meet a few requirements such as residing within the corporation boundaries for at least one year and writing a letter of intent. The school board conducted interviews with each of the candidates in October.
The remaining candidates were present during Tuesday night’s meeting. Cupka says her first meeting was enlightening.
“I’ve never been on a board of anything so I wasn’t sure what to expect,” says Cupka.
Cupka says her goal is to help continue Plymouth’s efforts of being a top school corporation in the state.
The Plymouth School board voted unanimously to make the selection.
