A 24-year-old Plymouth man faces a neglect of a dependent charge after Plymouth Police found an 18-month-old infant injured and unresponsive at a Holloway Drive home Thursday morning. The child was first taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth then airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Emergency surgery was performed due to brain injuries, according to authorities. They identified the child’s caregiver as 24-year-old Jamie Elsea. He was questioned and released pending further investigation.
However, investigation at the hospital in Fort Wayne revealed a criminal offense had occurred. Police located Elsea Friday afternoon and booked him into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary neglect of a dependent charges.
There’s no word as to the nature of the child’s injuries or condition at this time.
