Marshall County Tourism Expands Grant Opportunities

marshall-county-tourismMarshall County Tourism is allocating more grant money this year to help with the marketing and development of events exhibiting positive tourism potential to the county. Executive Director Cori Humes says the goal is to directly increase hotel/motel occupancy and create positive image building publicity.

For the past three years, Marshall County Tourism has allocated $25,000 in funding for that purpose. They’ve increased it to $30,000 for 2017 to assist more organizations throughout the county.

The grant program’s goal is to help fund the promotion of tourism projects that positively impact the county’s economy, especially those that attract visitors to the area.

Grants can be used for things like advertising, printing and promotional expenses that bring visitors to Marshall County and encourage overnight stays. Municipalities and nonprofit organizations can also use funds to develop brochures, websites and other tools to encourage visitation.

Applications are due Jan. 13, 2017. They can be picked up at Marshall County Tourism, 201 N. Michigan St. in Plymouth. Call the office at 574-936-1882 or email Humes at ceh@visitmarshallcounty.org.
