The Indiana Bicentennial Torch will make its way into Marshall County on Tuesday with a host of activities to get the community involved.
Indiana’s 200th birthday has seen the torch traveling throughout the state on a 3,200 mile journey. The torch relay started in Corydon on September 9th and will complete its journey at the statehouse in Indianapolis in the middle of this month.
October 4th will mark the torch’s passage through Marshall County. Activities will commence in Downtown Plymouth between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. EDT with a coloring contest and balloon artist for the kids. Live music, food, and the “Bicentennial Experience” traveling museum will also be part of the activities.
The Marshall County bicentennial planning committee has been working for months to finalize the route of travel as well as find volunteers to help carry the symbol through the local area. Persons with a high level of community involvement were selected to carry the torch throughout each of Indiana’s 92 counties.
The torch will also make appearances in Marshall Counties other communities including a stop in Bremen at 3:00, followed by LaPaz at 4:00 p.m. From there the torch will visit several sites around Plymouth and complete its journey at the Culver Military Academies campus in Culver.
The torch will exit Marshall County following the events of Tuesday to enter Fulton County.
